Sugralin Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the village of Sugraly, Kyzylkum. R.K. Makarova, E.F. Tsatsir, 1960. The stratotype is 8 km south of the village of Sugraly (Tamdytau Mountains). It is used in the preparation of reference legends, in geological survey, exploration, and thematic works of the Kyzylkum mining and ore district, Sultanuizdag Mountains, and Pre-Aral.
Synonym: Sugralinskaya Svita, Сугралинская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Gray, light-gray, light-brown marls with layers of white limestones in the lower part, with numerous fish scales and vertebrae. Thickness up to 52 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It lies conformably on the Nurin Fm, Kipchak Fm, and Kazakhtau Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Kultaban Fm. The upper boundary of the suite on the west is diachronous. Thus, if in some sections of N and E. Kyzylkum it passes along the top of the Acarinina bullbrooki zone, whereas in the western districts along the top of Hantkenina alabamensis.
Regional extent
Southern, central and eastern Kyzylkum, eastern coast of the Aral Sea, Bukhara Depression, Zirabulak-Ziaetdin and Nurata districts. In the area of the Sultanuizdag Range, Pre-Aral (East) and Kyzylkum, locally, the lower part of the suite is facially replaced by clays of the Nurin Fm.

In the lower part, it contains foraminifera Globorotalia aragonensis Nutt., G. pseudoscitula Glaessn.; marine bivalve mollusks - Anomia akburunakica Korob. et Makar., Pteria elitracca Rom. In the upper part, foraminifera - Lenticulina iljini N. Byk., Anomalina ammophila crassa Balakhm., Pseudohastigerina sharkriverensis (Berg. et Olss.), Acarinina bullbrooki (Bolli.), Hantkenina alabamensis Cushm., Acarinina pentacamerata (Bolli.), A. multicamerata (Balakhm.); marine bivalve mollusks - Pteria elitracea Rom., Variamussium adumbratum Korob. et Makar.; nannoplankton zones NP 12-16 Marthasterites tribrachiatus, Discoaster lodoensis, D. sublodoensis, Nannotetrina fulgens, Discoaster bifax.
